Lines have a very minimal limit. They can be thick or thin, curved or straight, diagonal or horizontal. They can be found in many many things.

Shapes are closed lines. They can be natural shapes like squares or circles or they can be freeform.

Form is anything that shows 3 dimensions. You can see different sides of it like a cone or a pyramid.

Space is the area around objects or between objects. It can be negative space or positive space and it can show depth of a photo.

Color in photos is the reflection of light off of objects. There are multiple spectrums of color and they can be cool, warm, light, and dark. There's complimentary and primary colors.

Texture is how the surface of an object is. For example you can tell that rope is rough because of the way it looks. Smooth textures are usually flat looking and shiny while rough textures don't have ashine. Although you can tell a cactus in a photograph is prickly or a glass cup is smooth, if you touch the picture it will still be paper.

Balance is the way color, shape, texture, and space is distributed. In this picture you feel like everything is even.

Emphasis is a way to catch the attention of the viewer. You can do this by using color, a focus point, or texture.

Movement is how the viewer looks at the picture. It can be lead by lines that draw the eye to each part of the picture or it can be used with color. Basically anything that can draw the viewers eyes to the next focal point of the picture.

Pattern is the repetition of a design in a photograph.

Repetition is using patterns to make the picture seem united.

Proportion is using the sizes of things to put together a picture. You can tell that the boy is actually bigger than the chair because his distance is large in proportion to the chair being less distance from the camera therefore the chair looks bigger when the boy is really bigger.

Rhythm is used to show an organized feeling of movement.

Variety is using ALL the elements to draw the viewers attention to look throughout the picture. This picture combines shape and color.

Unity is the feeling of peace and completeness with all parts of the picture.
